Announcements:

Attention Students & Staff: Students are not allowed to go to their cars during the school day.  Please remember to bring everything you need from your vehicle when you arrive, including books, lunch, projects, Chromebooks, etc. If you have questions, please see Mr. Karedes.

Attention all students who drive to school: You must have a parking tag to park in the DDHS student lot.  Park Permits/tags are available in the main office before and after school.  The cost is $15.00 for the first vehicle and $5.00 for each additional vehicle you will be driving to school. Parking tags MUST hang on the rear view mirror while in the lot.  If your tag is not hanging, and just sitting on your dash, you will be issued a ticket. ALL fees/fines must be paid before a parking permit is issued. Officer Schroeder will be checking parking tags beginning Monday, September 10th. If you have questions, see Mrs. Daniels or Mrs. Pelnar in the main office.

Community Service Opportunity: Cornfest is in need of your help on September 7-9 at West Park of Darien! If you are interested in volunteering your time, please contact Barb Huber at 262-903-7998 or diybarbhuber@gmail.com

Attention Students: On Friday, September 14 Lifetouch will be here to take student ID pictures.  You will be called to the commons area via PA. Picture packet information was given to your homeroom teacher for those who wish to purchase pictures. You must have exact cash/change, check, or credit card information.  If you have questions, please stop in the main office.

Community Service Opportunity: Looking for volunteer hours?  We can help!! We are looking for volunteers to help assist with the ZOOMA Great Lakes Half Marathon/5K/Kids Race. The Race will take place at Lake Lawn Resort and Spa Volunteers needed for September 14th from 4pm-8:30pm (30 spots available) Volunteers needed for September 15th from 5:30am-11:30am (various duties and spots available). All volunteer opportunities are available for anyone over the age of 13, Saturday volunteer opportunities GREAT for all students! Community Service Opportunity: Wisconsin School for the Deaf Library is looking for students to help with sorting and shelving books. Please contact Ms. O’Connell in Student Services for further details.

Attention Students: Start College Now and Early College Credit Program (application deadline Oct. 1) Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors interested in taking college class at one of our nearby technical colleges or university during the Spring of 2019 need to complete an application by October 1, 2018. Please make an appointment with your counselor to learn about the criteria for this opportunity and to receive an application.

2018-2019 10th and 11th Graders, This year we will again have the PSAT/NMSQT Test.  This stands for Pre-SAT/National Merit Scholarship Corporation.  By taking this test you can see if you qualify for any National Merit Scholarships, your college readiness, estimated SAT score and academic strengths/weaknesses.  This a great opportunity to practice standardized tests in order to prepare for the ACT and/or SAT. Only Juniors are eligible for the National Merit Scholarship.  The test date is October 10th, 2018.  The cost for the test is $16. If you are a junior on free/reduced lunch you are eligible for a fee waiver (first come, first serve basis).  If you are interested in taking the test please sign up and make payment in Student Services. The sign up will remain open until September 10th, 2018.  You may also grab a Quick Reference Guide to the PSAT in Student Services.   

Attention Juniors & Seniors: An admissions representative  from Carroll University, Waukesha, WI. will be visiting D.D.H.S on Wednesday, October 10th, from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. in the Student Services conference room, Room #114. Please stop in to Student Services to sign up. You must have your teachers permission to attend.

Job Listings (Check Out the Job Board Near the AP Office):

Turtle Creek CLC has a job openings available for tutoring. You must be 16 years of age. We are looking for staff M-F 3:30-5:40 and the pay is $10 an hour. Students must be in good academic standing and not have more than 2 office referrals. They must also complete a trial period of 2 weeks of volunteering prior to being considered for hiring unless they have volunteered for CLC in the past. Park and Recreation Job Opportunity: The city of Delavan Park and Recreation Department is looking to hire for some seasonal positions including swim instructor, flag football instructor, and instructional soccer coach.  Starting wages are between $8-10 depending on experience. The dates for applying are quickly approaching (Swim instructor apply by Sept. 28th, Flag Football instructor apply by September 11th, and Instructional Soccer coach apply by Sept. 15th).  You can either find the application online at ci.delavan.wi.us/development/employement-opportunities, by stopping in at 123 South Second Street in Delavan, or visiting Mrs. Pickel in room 164.

Kunes Country Chevrolet Cadillac in Delavan is now hiring and looking for night-time porters Monday-Thursday for 4pm-9pm and Saturdays from 8:30am-5pm. Days may vary so you won’t be working every single work day. Contact Eric Burt at 262-728-9163 or stop in for an application. Must be 16 w/ a valid drivers license.
