Announcements:

Attention Students: We continue to have food, juice boxes, candy wrappers and other food waste products left in the front commons before and after school.  Our custodians are busy enough performing their normal job responsibilities. Cleaning up after students who make these messes is not part of their normal job duties.  Please be mindful and respectful of them as humans. If students don’t begin cleaning up after themselves, food will not be permitted in the front commons for the remainder of the month.

Attention Juniors & Seniors: An Admissions Representative from Mount Mary University, Milwaukee, WI will be visiting DDHS on Tuesday, November 6th from 1:00-2:00 in the Student Services conference room #114.

Attention Juniors & Seniors: An Admissions Representative from UW Oshkosh, Oshkosh, WI will be visiting DDHS on Wednesday, November 7th from 1:00-2:00 in the Student Services conference room #114.

Keefe Kares is hosting a Free Winter Wear Drive for Students: The drive will take place on Friday, November 9th at 9 am – 12 pm and again from 1 pm – 4 pm at the Walworth County Health and Human Services Auditorium (W4501 County Rd NN, Elkhorn). They will be giving out all sizes of coats, snow pants, scarfs, hats, and mittens at a first come, first serve basis. You will need to show proof of residency, income, or verification that you receive services from Walworth County.

Attention Seniors: FAFSA Workshop – Monday, November 12th, 5-7:00 PM at Delavan-Darien High School Quad 151. A Student Finance Specialist from Gateway Technical College will be present to aid in FAFSA form completion.  This is a great opportunity to get support with completing the form. All Grade 12 students and families are invited to attend the workshop. It is highly recommended that a dependent student attend the event with a parent or guardian.

Attention Juniors & Seniors: An Admissions Representative from UW Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WI will be visiting DDHS on Tuesday, November 13th from 10:00-11:00 in the Student Services conference room #114.

Attention Juniors & Seniors: An Admissions Representative from UW Stevens Point, Stevens Point, WI will be visiting DDHS on Tuesday, November 20th from 9:00-10:00 in the Student Services conference room #114.

Community Service Opportunity: Wisconsin School for the Deaf is looking fo volunteers for their Book Fair, Nov. 26 – Dec. 4. They are look for people to help with the following: Decorate signs, Secure community sponsorships, Help serve food and refreshments, Organize and merchandise displays, Set up and pack up, Help shoppers, etc… If Interested please contact Nell Fleming at nell.fleming@wsd.k12.wi.us

Attention Juniors & Seniors: A Representative from the U.S. Air Force will be visiting DDHS on Wednesday, December 12th from 10:45-12:15 in the Student Services conference room #114.

Attention Juniors: Are you interested in a career in law enforcement. If so, you may be interested in learning more about the Wisconsin American Legion Law Enforcement Career Academy. The academy will be held June 24 -28, 2019 at the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy at Ft. McCoy, WI. The academy is offered to students who are currently juniors in high school who are good standing and recommended by their school. There is no cost to the student. The academy offers classroom instruction, hands on experiences coupled with required physical fitness participation. The students stay in the dorms at the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy during the session. The application will be available in January 2019 at www.wilegion.org. Any questions regarding the program can be directed to Sheri, Programs Coordinator for The American Legion, Department of Wisconsin. Her email is Sheri@wilegion.org.

Students working in a CNA position–If you are a student who is currently working as a certified nursing assistant, please stop by Mrs. Pickel’s office.  There is an opportunity for you to earn credit while participating in the Youth Apprenticeship program. You can get high school credit while getting paid for working as a CNA!

Students working in an agriculture related field–If you are a student who is currently working on a farm or in an agriculture related field, please stop by Mrs. Pickel’s office.  Youth apprenticeship may be a program that is available for you! That’s right, you can earn high school credit and get paid for your work on the farm!  Stop and see Mrs. Pickel.
