Trauma Informed Care Training Offered

Community agencies and individuals who work with children are invited to one-hour Trauma Informed Care training sessions developed by the Delavan-Darien School District and the Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services.
In three training sessions scheduled this fall, attendees will work with clinicians who provide treatment to kids who experience childhood trauma. Space is limited to about 20 participants in each session.
Sign up by calling: (262) 233-6764 or by using the online form below.
The sessions will look at many of the underlying causes that prompt children to misbehave, act out or not control their behavior, such as physical, mental or sexual abuse, neglect, and witnessing domestic violence.
Training Session Objectives:
- Understand what Complex Traumatic Stress is, and how it can affect those around us;
- Gain awareness of the pervasiveness of trauma in our communities;
- Understand the need to recognize someone’s triggers;
- Develop an awareness of Trauma Informed Care and what this can look like in your community;
- Develop an understanding of the Advance Childhood Experiences Study.
The fall sessions will precede a public showing of the film “Paper Tigers,” a documentary that profiles a Washington high school that focused on changing students’ lives by recognizing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE). Check back here for details of when and where that showing will occur.
Learn more about “Paper Tigers” and watch a trailer for the film here. *CAUTION: Trailer contains strong language and graphic depictions and may not be suitable for all audiences or children.
Following the film, in winter, Delavan-Darien staff and educators from surrounding school districts will undergo similar school-based trainings.
