The longstanding tradition at Wileman Elementary School continues with Kindergarten students making Stone Soup in the classroom.
The students read the story “Stone Soup” by Marcia Brown. It is about some soldiers who are hungry and stop in a village to get some food. The villagers are very poor and don’t want to share the little food that they have. The soldiers trick the villagers into making soup from a stone!
Teachers and volunteers help the students peel and cut up the vegetables that go into our stone soup. The smells fill the school and the students and their supervisors enjoy eating our soup in the afternoon.
Surely, parents appreciate the pre-Thanksgiving cooking lessons for the kids, too!
