DOWNLOAD FLYERThe screenings will be held from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and again from 2-5 p.m. at Wileman Elementary School, 1001 E. Geneva St., Delavan. Walk-in appointments are available during those hours.
Delavan-Darien’s professional special education staff will screen children for such things as:
- Speech and Language Skills
- Pre-Academic Skills
- Gross Motor Skills
- Fine Motor Skills
- Social Skills
The screenings are for children who are not already enrolled in Delavan-Darien’s 4-year-old kindergarten program. Children who will attend both Delavan-Darien schools or area private schools are welcome to be screened.
Educators will be on hand to provide an analysis of their findings to parents, and provide resources and ideas to have the educational needs of children met in the best ways possible. The screenings will also seek to identify children with special educational or developmental needs and start planning for their educational pathways.
Parents are encouraged to come to learn more about the physical, pre-academic, communication, social and emotional development of their children at these free screenings. To help you at home, download and explore the CDC Milestone Tracker App and track your child’s milestones from age 2 months to 5 years.
The screens are done in a safe, fun and playful setting that will help parents and students get ready for the transition to school.
