Dear Families and DDSD Supporters,
Good morning. After six years of numerous successes with Dr. Crist at the helm, the Board has decided to move in a new direction. Dr. Crist has announced his retirement as our District Administrator effective the end of June. After coming out of retirement for this position, he now can enjoy more time with his lovely wife, Kathy as well as some of his passions – hunting, gardening, and time with his children and grandchildren.
I joined the district back in August of 2017 as your Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Over the past nine months, I have learned about so many wonderful opportunities and programs that your child(ren) may experience. To make a list would be a daunting task and to be honest, I would forget too many and embarrass myself.
The Board has requested my service as the future District Administrator. I accepted this role knowing the district needs consistency, stability, and transparency within our community. To assist me in this endeavor, Dr. Crist has graciously agreed to provide guidance as I enter into this new role.
The past month has been challenging for our district; however, we are resolute with renewing the Comet Pride as well as continuing our student achievement gains that were reflected in our most recent State Report Card. We remain positive and make it our priority to take special care of your precious child(ren) entrusted to us.
In the coming months, I will be hosting informal sharing sessions to hear your concerns, answer your questions the best I can, and to communicate our goals for the upcoming year. More information on those sessions will be available soon, and I hope you will attend as I believe together we are stronger. Your opinion on how to “restore the pride” as well as answer any of your questions is very important to me.

Estimadas Familias y Partidarios del DDSD,
Buenos días, después de seis años con numerosos éxitos con el Dr. Crist a la cabeza, la Junta Escolar ha tomado la decisión de moverse en una dirección diferente. Dr. Crist anunció su retiro como Administrador del Distrito a finales de junio. Después de retirarse de esta posición, él va a poder disfrutar más tiempo con su querida esposa Kathy al igual que algunas de sus pasiones – caza, jardinería y tiempo con sus hijos y nietos.
Yo llegué al distrito en agosto del 2017 como la Directora de Currículo y Enseñanza. En los últimos nueve meses he aprendido acerca de las varias maravillosas oportunidades y programas que sus estudiantes pueden experimentar. Hacer una lista sería una tarea desalentadora y para ser sincera, y me avergonzaría si se me olvidan algunas.
La Junta Escolar me ha pedido que sirva como la futura Administradora del Distrito. He aceptado esta posición sabiendo que el distrito necesita consistencia, estabilidad y transparencia con nuestra comunidad. Para ayudarme en esta tarea, el Dr. Crist ha acordado amablemente a guiarme a asumir este nuevo papel.
El mes pasado ha sido muy difícil para nuestro distrito; sin embargo, estamos resueltos a renovar el Orgullo Cometa al igual que seguir con las mejoras en los logros de los estudiantes las cuales fueron reflejadas en las Boletas de Calificaciones Estatales más recientes. Nos mantenemos con una actitud positiva y nuestra prioridad es brindar un cuidado especial a su(s) preciado(s) hIjo(s) que nos han sido confiados.
En los próximos meses voy a organizar algunas sesiones informales para escuchar sus inquietudes, responder sus preguntas lo mejor que pueda y comunicar nuestras metas para el próximo año. Pronto tendremos más información sobre esas sesiones y espero que pueda asistir ya que creo que juntos somos más fuertes. Su opinión sobre cómo “restaurar el orgullo” al igual que responder sus preguntas es muy importante para mí.
