We are pleased to announce that Turtle Creek Elementary School has been awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant beginning in the 2018-2019 school year.  Turtle Creek was a previous grant recipient over the past five years and has been successfully running a CLC (after school program) since 2013.  In February, Turtle Creek reapplied for funding in a highly competitive grant competition in order to continue and expand our current program.  Over the course of the next five years of the grant, Turtle Creek will receive a total of $650,000 to offer high quality after school academic intervention and enrichment to our students.

Although the focus of the Turtle Creek Elementary CLC is primarily literacy and math intervention, we also provide additional services to support student learning and development, including tutoring and mentoring, homework help, academic enrichment (such as hands-on science and technology programs), community service opportunities, as well as music, arts, sports, and cultural activities. In addition, the CLC offers a variety of parenting activities throughout the school year.
CLC funds primarily serve students from schools that have at least 40 percent of their students from low income families (defined as qualifying for free and reduced lunch, although other sources of objective data in addition to free and reduced lunch count may be used to establish eligibility). In addition, schools demonstrating a strong need for academic support and intervention in the areas of literacy and math receive priority for grant awards.

We are so pleased to be able to continue to offer high quality after school programming to our students for an additional five years!
A special thanks to Katie Kopp and Michelle Minton for helping write the grant and their ongoing commitment to the program.
